Prague University Student Confessed to Double Murder in Letter Found at Home Before Mass Shooting
A shocking revelation has emerged in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Prague on December 21. The shooter, identified as David Kozak, a 20-year-old university student, had confessed to killing a two-month-old baby and her father in a letter found at his home in Hostouň. Czech police spokesperson, Jan Daněk, confirmed the existence of the letter, however, its contents are currently being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
Prior to the mass shooting, Kozak was already a suspect in the double murders of the 32-year-old father and his infant daughter. The victims’ bodies were discovered in the Klánovický les National Forest on December 15. Police chief Martin Vondrasek emphasized that they are taking Kozak’s involvement in these killings “very seriously.”
Authorities received a tip that Kozak was planning to travel to Prague with the intention of ending his own life on the day of the shooting. Police responded swiftly, arriving at the Charles University campus just two minutes after receiving reports of an active shooter. Upon entering the school’s faculty of arts building, they discovered a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition.
Eyewitnesses reported that Kozak had been shouting about killing his father that morning when he entered the building armed with an AR-15. Subsequently, the shooter’s father’s lifeless body was found in Kozak’s hometown.
The nation was left in shock following the horrific incident, leading the Czech government to declare December 23 a national day of mourning. Prime Minister Petr Fiala expressed deep sorrow and disgust over the “senseless” attack, urging unity and respect for the victims.
As investigations into the motives behind the mass shooting continue, the Czech people are left mourning the loss of innocent lives and grappling with the aftermath of the country’s worst mass shooting. The tragic events have sparked national conversations about gun control and mental health support, prompting a renewed focus on addressing these pressing issues.
