Kung Fu Panda 4 Holds Strong at the Box Office, Beating Out Dune: Part Two for Second Consecutive Week
In a surprising turn of events, Kung Fu Panda 4 has managed to maintain its lead at the box office for the second week in a row, narrowly beating out Dune: Part Two by less than $1 million. The latest installment in the popular animated franchise raked in $30 million over the weekend, bringing its total earnings to an impressive $107 million after just two weeks in theaters.
Meanwhile, Dune: Part Two, the highly-anticipated sequel to last year’s hit sci-fi epic, continues to perform well, earning $29.1 million and reaching a total of $205 million after three weeks. Rounding out the top five are Mark Wahlberg’s dog movie Arthur The King, horror film Imaginary, and biopic Cabrini.
One of the biggest surprises of the week was Love Lies Bleeding, which jumped from 21st place to sixth place with a staggering 1,548 percent increase in gross. Bob Marley: One Love, a documentary about the legendary reggae artist, is still hanging on just outside of the top five.
Unfortunately, newcomers One Life and The American Society Of Magical Negroes failed to make much of an impact at the box office, while Ordinary Angels stuck around for its fourth week in theaters. Despite winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards, Oppenheimer barely made any additional money.
The current box office top 10 list looks like this:
1. Kung Fu Panda 4
2. Dune: Part Two
3. Arthur The King
4. Imaginary
5. Cabrini
6. Love Lies Bleeding
7. Bob Marley: One Love
8. One Life
Overall, it’s been an exciting and unpredictable week at the box office, with Kung Fu Panda 4 proving to be a force to be reckoned with. Keep an eye out for more updates on the latest box office news on Swerd Media.
