Sony fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the highly-anticipated Xperia 1 VI, following the recent release of the Xperia 1 V in May 2023. Leaked 5K renders obtained from Onleaks have given us a glimpse into the design details of the upcoming smartphone.
The Xperia 1 VI is expected to come with a 6.5-inch display, a triple-rear camera setup, a headphone jack, and a dedicated camera shutter button. Compared to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI will be slightly shorter, wider, and thicker with dimensions of 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.4mm.
Rumors suggest that Sony may switch the aspect ratio of the Xperia 1 VI from 21:9 to around 19.5:9, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Leaks also indicate a possible shift from a 4K display to a 2K display, marking a significant change in aspect ratio for the first time in five years.
The original use of the 21:9 aspect ratio on the Xperia 1 VI was meant to enhance the movie viewing experience on smartphones, aligning with theaters’ preferred aspect ratio. However, scaling back to a 2K display may address battery life concerns and bring the Xperia 1 VI more in line with other flagship smartphones on the market.
While the launch date and price for the Xperia 1 VI have not been confirmed yet, leaks and appearances in accessory listings suggest an imminent announcement within the next month or so. Sony fans can expect more details on the Xperia 1 VI to be revealed in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates on Swerd Media.
