France Steps Up Aid to Ukraine in Fight Against Russian Invaders
In a major development, France’s defense minister, Sebastien Lecornu, has announced a new aid package to support Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russian invaders. Paris has pledged to deliver “hundreds” of armored personnel carriers and anti-aircraft missiles to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The French government is phasing out its VAB fleet but will provide older operational models to Ukraine. Additionally, France will supply more Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles for SAMP/T launchers, which are comparable to the US-supplied Patriot air defense systems.
Furthermore, remotely operated munitions will be developed and sent to Ukraine starting this summer. The French government is also urging defense companies to increase production to meet the needs of its own army as well as to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
This aid comes at a crucial time as Kyiv has raised concerns about low stocks of munitions and has called for an end to a political standoff with Washington to receive a new $60 billion aid package. The support from France is expected to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and help in its efforts to defend its sovereignty against Russian aggression.
As tensions continue to escalate in the region, France’s increased assistance to Ukraine underscores its commitment to standing with the country in its fight for freedom and territorial integrity. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
