Michigan State Secures No. 9 Seed in 2024 NCAA Tournament
Michigan State basketball has officially punched their ticket to the 2024 NCAA Tournament as the No. 9 seed. Despite some anxiety surrounding their tournament prospects after a rough end to the season, the Spartans will face off against No. 8 seed Mississippi State in the first round at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Coach Tom Izzo’s team had a challenging finish to the season, losing five of their final seven games. However, this marks Michigan State’s 26th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, although it is the fourth year in a row they have failed to secure a seed higher than No. 7.
The Spartans have a strong track record in the tournament, winning at least one game in 14 of their past 16 berths. Their upcoming opponent, Mississippi State, comes into the matchup with a 21-13 record and having lost five of their last seven games.
The game between Michigan State and Mississippi State will showcase two top 20 teams in adjusted defensive efficiency. Fans can catch the action on CBS, with Brian Anderson and Jim Jackson providing the commentary.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 21 at 12:15 p.m. ET for the big game at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Betting odds currently favor Michigan State with a spread of -1.5.
