Severe Weather Hits Midwest, Moving Towards Ohio Valley and Mid-South Regions
Severe weather is forecasted to hit the Ohio Valley and Mid-South regions on Wednesday following a series of storms in the Midwest. Over 12 million people are at risk of severe thunderstorms in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, with metro areas including Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Louisville at the greatest risk for severe weather.
As a result of the storms, more than 30,000 people are currently without power in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. Additionally, there is a critical fire weather risk in southeast Colorado, the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle region, and New Mexico.
Earlier this week, tornadoes hit Oklahoma, leading to at least one fatality and several injuries. Other Plains states have also been hit with tornadoes overnight, including Iowa, Kansas, and South Dakota.
In response to the severe weather, the National Weather Service is providing safety tips for tornado warnings. There are currently US weather watches and warnings in effect for severe weather conditions.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of unstable weather. Stay tuned to local news and weather updates for the latest information on the severe weather moving through the region.
