Google Podcasts App Users Must Migrate to YouTube Music by April 2
Google recently made an announcement that users of its podcast app must migrate their subscriptions to YouTube Music by April 2. According to a report by Techcrunch, users who fail to migrate by the deadline will no longer be able to stream podcasts directly from the Google Podcasts app.
The migration is part of Google’s broader plan to centralize its audio services under YouTube. Currently, the Google Podcasts app is installed on 500 million Android devices globally. Users in the U.S. will only be able to use the Podcasts app until the end of March 2024.
To assist users with the migration process, Google will offer additional time for users to save their subscriptions through the app’s export feature until July 2024. After this deadline, Google plans to discontinue the Google Podcasts app globally in 2024.
This move by Google signifies a shift towards consolidating its audio services and providing users with a more streamlined experience. Users are encouraged to take action before the deadlines to ensure they do not lose access to their favorite podcasts.
