In a shocking case that has left the community reeling, Alexander Louie has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for deliberately attempting to spread HIV through sexual contact. The Idaho man, who was found to be not taking his medication, engaged in sexual activity with both men and teenage boys in hopes of transferring the virus to them.
Louie’s disturbing actions came to light after an investigation began as a child enticement case in August 2023. Louie had arranged to meet a person he believed to be a 15-year-old boy, who was actually an undercover detective. It was later revealed that Louie had engaged in sexual intercourse with 30-50 different men and boys, including a 16-year-old.
During sentencing, Ada County District Judge Derrick O’Neill described Louie as a predator and sentenced him to 30 years in prison, with 16 years to be served before he is eligible for parole. Judge O’Neill imposed the sentence for felony charges related to transferring body fluids containing the HIV virus.
Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts commended the work of law enforcement in bringing Louie to justice and protecting the community from his dangerous behavior. The case serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of being vigilant against those who seek to harm others through intentional actions.
