NASA is gearing up to celebrate Pi Day 2024 with its annual Pi Day Challenge, inviting people to participate in solving math problems related to the mathematical constant pi. The challenge, organized by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Education Office, aims to engage participants in STEM fields and celebrate Pi Day in a fun and educational way.
Participants in the challenge will have the opportunity to solve a series of math problems involving various NASA missions and technology. Questions will cover a wide range of missions, including the Deep Space Optical Communications technology on NASA’s Psyche spacecraft, the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft, Earth-orbiting satellites, rovers on the Moon, and telescopes like the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope.
The challenge offers nearly four dozen different questions for participants to solve, providing a unique way to learn about NASA’s work in space exploration while celebrating Pi Day. Participants can access the problems online and submit their answers, with NASA posting the correct solutions for verification.
By participating in the Pi Day Challenge, individuals can not only test their math skills but also learn more about the important work that NASA is doing in space exploration. It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with STEM fields and celebrate the magic of Pi Day in a meaningful way.
